Woman on a Mission Nr.4
This painting is Number 4. from the series ‘Woman on a Mission’. This last one I've added my favorite color - Yves Klein Blue.
Why I created this painting
'I saw a woman in Amsterdam. She was on the bike. Wearing a hat like this. Red lips. And just a simple grey t-shirt. She was cycling super fast. She was in a hurry. I looked at her. She turned her head and smiled widely at me. Her vibe stayed with me. And I created this painting. A woman, doing her thing, with the most awesome color in the background - Yves Klein Blue'
Why I created this series
'As a woman, I love women. Everything they are and everything they do. Women do a lot for others. But there are times, sometimes, when they do their own thing. Sometimes alone, sometimes with another woman. And you can’t really tell what they’re up to. What they think. What they talk about. What they dream of. Where they’re going. What they really want. And that’s what interests me. The unknown of a woman’s mind.'
How I painted and how you could frame this painting
'I painted these women with pitch black paint called Black 3.0. This paint does not reflect light, which gives it a cool edge. I used raw canvas. The sides are not perfect. I imagine these canvases framed in a wooden, slightly raw frame, with glass. They will suit a living room, kitchen, bedroom—anywhere, actually.'
